Damn! Has it been a year? (The answer is yes).
Progress has been slow, especially since I started my master's degree, but in between ITSWC2014 and the first assignments of the new semester, some progress actually worthy of a photo/post has been made (as opposed to just ordering and sizing parts).
So without further ado:
...I did not realize how terrible a picture that was until I uploaded it.
A few things need to be addressed:
- Currently, the mount points for the swingarm are only tack welded.
- There is a little lateral movement in the rear swingarm. This is simply due to the spacing in the posts welded into the rear of the chassis. It should be pretty simple to shim out, but I'll look into it a little deeper at a later date.
- Daniel, on his visit down here, pointed out that the front suspension was locked up. Which makes sense, since the front suspension is locked up. He's coming up with a solution so that I have front suspension.
- Finding the right size allen bits for the rear swingarm bolts.
In addition, I reconciled an issue with the steering - previously there was some slop in the steering due to having two ball joint rod ends. I swapped out the ball joint rod end on the tie rod with a solid clevis and it seemed to fix the problem.
Anyway, maybe my audience of one will get an update before next year.
